Electrified Lanterns
Custom Work
Any of my lighting products can be
adapted to being electrified, some are easier to convert than others
and some hide the electrical wire better than others do.
After you have found the style of
lantern you want, you will need to decide how the lantern or
other device is to be displayed. For more information and
considerations for electrifying your lantern, please visit the
Electrified Information
page.
The following are some examples of custom
electrified lanterns.

Copper Post Lamp
I was
commissioned to create this copper Post Lamp style lantern
for a restored log home in Arkansas. It is equipped with a
single incandescent bulb fixture pointing down for lighting
the entrance to the house, which is under a porch. The bottom of the lantern was omitted, as per customer's order, to produce downward light.

Electrified
Half Round
This is an
example of a large half round that has been electrified and
wired to be hung on a lantern hook. Two bulbs were specified
by the customer. It is punched with the Star Burst pattern,
very popular for the colonial and Jacksonian period. A pair
of these lanterns were made for the newly restored,
historical 1846 Blodgett House in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Exceptionally
Large Electrified Copper Lantern
This monstrous
lantern was made for Holland America Cruise Line to be used
while suspended from a replica pirate ship that they have
built on their island in the Caribbean. It was equipped with
a single incandescent bulb. The photo on the right shows it
without the glass, beside a standard size half round so you
have a better idea of the size of it.
